Red Bank’s in-street shopping and dining plaza known as ‘Broadwalk’ will go on winter hiatus at the end of November.
Borough council members informally agreed Wednesday night that the prospect of dealing with a snowstorm before winter is over makes keeping the plaza going impractical.
The new workweek on the Greater Red Bank Green kicks off with a wintry nip.
Northwest winds of 15 to 20 miles per hour created wind-chill temperatures in the 20s across much of New Jersey Monday morning. And possible gusts up to 45 mph prompted a National Weather Service wind advisory through 3 p.m.

A day and a half of rain is expected to soak the Greater Red Bank Green starting Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
As Tropical Storm Zeta charged northeast through Georgia early Thursday, remnants of the system were expected to bring sometimes-heavy rainfall to our area before tapering off Friday. With fallen leaves clogging sewers, that could create localized flooding and dangerous driving conditions, the NWS cautioned.

Columbus Day on the Greater Red Bank Green will be a wet and gusty one, according to the National Weather Service.
“A long period of widespread showers will impact the region through Tuesday, producing 2 to 3 inches of rain,” the NWS reported in its early morning forecast Monday. “Nuisance flooding” in low lying areas and wind gusts of 30 miles per hour are also possible, it said.

Sunshine and temperatures peaking in the mid-70s are expected in advance of a windy spell Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast for the area that includes the Greater Red Bank Green includes winds above 20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 in the afternoon. Winds are expected to diminish overnight.

The future looks bright for users of the wooden trailway through a swampy area of Little Silver off Prospect Avenue. It’s getting some badly needed TLC from the DPW, which is replacing deteriorated boards, according to a post on the borough’s Facebook page Thursday.

Red Bank’s ‘Broadwalk’ experiment with in-street dining on Broad Street is going 24/7 for at least the next two months.
The change, from a four-day-a-week schedule, goes into effect Thursday, following a surprise proposal at Wednesday night’s council meeting.
With one week of summer left, an early harbinger of autumn has arrived on the Greater Red Bank Green in the form of cool temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

A deer seemed a bit puzzled – as was redbankgreen – by a Giants helmet left on strange display in the woods off White Road in Little Silver Wednesday.

Six days after Tropical Storm Isaias, electrical service was almost fully restored on the Greater Green early Monday, just in time for some uncomfortably hot weather.
As of 6 a.m., 11 homes and businesses in Fair Haven were awaiting restoration of power from First Energy/JCP&L, down from more than 2,300 at the peak, according to the utility’s outage map. Fewer than 5 each in Red Bank and Little Silver were still without service, the map indicated.
Ambient temperatures and humidity will combine to create feels-like peaks to nearly 100 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. The extended forecast for the Greater Green is below.
The effects of Tropical Storm Isaias continued to disrupt life on the Greater Green early Friday, three days after it passed through the region.
As of 6 a.m., 80,411 homes and businesses in Monmouth County did not have electrical service from First Energy/JCP&L, or more than one in four customers, according to the utility’s outage map, shown above.

The storm left hundreds of customers on the Greater Red Bank Green without power, a condition that continued Wednesday morning. Utility provider JCP&L’s online outage map reported 52 percent of its 291,000 customers in Monmouth County still without electricity as of 6 a.m.

Tropical Storm Isais brought down a tree and electrical wires onto a house on Mechanic Street in Red Bank Tuesday. No one was injured, police said.
The storm swept through the Greater Red Bank Green by mid-afternoon, leaving behind numerous power outages, lots of leafy debris – and bright sunshine.

With about a quarter-inch of rain falling, the Greater Red Bank Green saw only a hint of Tropical Storm Isaias Monday night, according to the National Weather Service. Few JCP&L customers were without power Tuesday morning.
The region may be further spared the drenching worst of the storm Tuesday, according to NWS forecasts, though dangerous winds are still expected.
