Press release from Red Bank Regional High School

“With the rate of youth obesity growing each year, this generation of young people will be the first to have a shorter life span than their parents,” observes Red Bank Regional High School athletic director Del Dal Pra, “unless we as a society do something about it…(and) at RBR we are doing something about it.”

Del Pra refers to the school’s latest investment in the health of its students: a new fitness center building addition, financed by the RBR School Board and furnished with donations primarily from the RBR BUC Backer Foundation and the Buccaneer Athletic Foundation. The public/private partnership created a striking facility which is in constant utilization.

The Red Bank Regional (RBR) School District conducts numerous community service activities during the holidays, from helping homeless families in Monmouth County, buying livestock to address world hunger, creating holiday cards for kids in hospitals and sending stockings stuffed with sweets to our troops in the Middle East.

But at the same time they also look inward — and through a partnership between the in-school program The SOURCE and the BUC Backer Foundation, RBR helps fill wishes for families within our own school who would otherwise not know such happy holidays.

The new facility allows for 60 to 70 students to work out comfortably; since its opening this past fall, its utilization has seen about that number on any given afternoon. RBR SEEKS DONATIONS FOR FITNESS CENTER

Classof_-_CopyThe Red Bank Regional High School Athletic Director Del Dal Pra receives a generous donation from members of the Red Bank High School Class of 1960, toward the completion of a new 3,000 square foot fitness center. The RBR Buc Backer Foundation recently granted $50,000 to finance half the cost of the much-needed new facility, and the Red Bank Regional School District is welcoming community donations of funds and necessary fitness equipment.

Press release from Red Bank Regional High School

For decades, the weight room adjacent to the legendary field house/ gymnasium at Red Bank Regional High School was akin to a poor stepchild; antiquated, undersized and poorly furnished.  That will soon change as the Board of Education, through their capital improvement account, was able to fund the construction of a nearly 3,000 square foot fitness center; accessed directly behind the field house structure that has hosted many athletic events (including indoor track meets) through the years.

Construction on the fitness center began this spring and will continue throughout the summer, with an anticipated opening in the fall of 2015. The center will be utilized by the entire school through gym classes that every student must take, as well as for training of RBR’s athletes — and while the construction of the fitness center for $928,000 was funded by the Red Bank Regional School District, the Board of Education hopes to furnish the space with donations from the community.

Press release from Red Bank Regional High School

The Red Bank Regional (RBR) Buc Backer Foundation is composed of an active group of passionate parents who raise money and perform functions to support all aspects of student life at Red Bank Regional High School.  The fruits of their fund-raising efforts were recently exemplified by the granting of over $75,000 in eight teacher or administrator requested grants to the school district.

“Throughout the year, we raise funds to benefit all aspects of student life in supporting academic success, as well as athletic, artistic and extracurricular development,” explains RBR Buc Backer president Paul Noglows. “Many of these items just couldn’t be met within the constraints of RBR’s fiscally tight, tax-payer supported budget. So for instance, while the Board of Education did finance the construction of a new fitness room through their capital budget, we helped furnish that space with a $50,000 grant for sports equipment.”
