RBC GIRLS END NEPTUNE’S UNBEATEN STREAK

Sophomore JosIe Larkins had 18 points to lead the Red Bank Catholic Caseys to a victory at home against previously unbeaten Neptune Tuesday. The Scarlet Fliers had a 24-20 halftime lead paced by Desiree Allen and Marajiah Bacon, but Larkins and senior Alex Barazotti sparked RBC to a quality win. Shore Sports Zone has full highlights and post-game reaction.

HOCKEY: RBC TOPS RFH ON ARMORY ICE

Red Bank Catholic raced out to a 4-0 first-period lead, but needed three goals in the third to gain an 8-5 win over Rumson-Fair Haven. The Bulldogs scored three straight goals in the second period to get within one goal, and scored early in the third to make it a 5-4 game before RBC pulled away. The Caseys’ Todd Goehring and the Bulldogs’ Brendan Ban both reached their 100th career point. Alec Mintz had a hat trick for RBC, scoring the final two goals. The Caseys improve to 12-4-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs now stand at 6-6-1. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights.

RBR POWERS FROM BEHIND TO TOP WALL

Coming back from a 13-point deficit to score more points in the first quarter than in the previous three, the Red Bank Regional Buc grabbed a big win on the road against Wall Township Thursday night. Shore Sports Zone has the thrilling video highlights.

RBC NIPS RBR IN CROSSTOWN OT THRILLER

Evan Madigan had a hot hand in overtime as Red Bank Catholic topped Red Bank Regional 56-53 in Little Silver Tuesday night afternoon. It was the second win for the Bucs over the their crosstown rivals this month. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights.

HOCKEY: RBC’S HOEY NOTCHES 100TH POINT

Former New Jersey Devils great Jim Dowd was back coaching Manasquan/Point Pleasant Beach at Red Bank Armory Monday, but Red Bank Catholic’s Evan Hoey had five goals and picked up his 100th career point in RBC’s 10-0 win. HOCKEY: RFF TOPS PPB/SQUAN AS DOWD SITS

Brendan Ban had four goals and three assists to lead Rumson-Fair Haven to an 11-3 win over Point Pleasant Beach/Manasquan at the Red Bank Armory Monday. Rob Garavante added a hat trick for RFH, who raced out to a 6-0 lead and led 7-1 at the end of two periods. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights.

Point Pleasant Beach/Manasquan did not have head coach Jim Dowd behind the bench in the game. News 12 New Jersey reported that the former New Jersey Devils great is facing an allegations that he kicked a player in the back during last Wednesday’s game against Red Bank Regional at Jersey Shore Sports Arena. 

RBC TOPS CROSSTOWN RIVAL RBR IN HOOPS

Kevin Fazio had 17 points and four other Red Bank Catholic starters were in the double digits as the Caseys topped  crosstown rival Red Bank Regional 71-66 at RBC Saturday afternoon. The Bucs got 18 points from Sadiq Palmer but suffered their first loss of the season as the Caseys bounced back from a loss in the finals of the WOBM Christmas Classic to Toms River North with a divisional victory. TRN TOPS RBC IN WOBM FINAL

Mike Nyisztor had 16 points, including a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter, to pace Toms River North to a 50-45 win over Red Bank Catholic in the championship game of the boys division of the WOBM Christmas Classic in Toms River Tuesday night.  RBC came back from a seven-point deficit to take a 40-39 lead in the fourth quarter, but Nyisztor drained back-to-back threes to spark a 7-0 run. BYRNE’S 23 HELP PUT RBC IN WOBM FINALS

In a game that went back-and-forth, the Red Bank Catholic boys’ basketball squad pulled off a 60-57 win over Freehold Township in the WOBM Christmas Classic at Toms River North High School Monday. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights as Liam Byrne poured in 23 points for the Caseys.

The victory put RBC in the tournament championship game to be played against Toms River North at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

M’TOWN SOUTH GIVES COACH 300TH OVER RBC

Stephanie Kracz racked up 27 points as Middletown South’s girls’ basketball team notched a 59-45 victory over Red Bank Catholic in semifinal action of the WOBM Christmas Classic in Toms River Sunday. The victory marked a milestone for Coach Tom Brennan: his 300th win. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights.

South will now face defending tournament champion Manasquan for the title on Tuesday.

RBC’S CELLA SCORES TD RUN OF THE YEAR

Nick Cella’s “pinball” scoring run for Red Bank Catholic against Manalapan on October 24 was the best TD run of the year in Monmouth and Ocean counties, according to viewers of Shore Sports Zone, the all-video online channel that debuted this year. And Cella’s honor was one of many at the first-ever SSZ All-Zone Banquet at IPlay America in Freehold Tuesday night.

CASEYS JOIN DAWGS AS STATE CHAMPS

In winning its first state championship since 1976, RBC joins podium-topping Rumson-Fair Haven, which won its division’s top prize for the second consecutive year on Saturday.

 

RBC BEATS DELBARTON FOR STATE TITLE

Led by quarterback Eddie Hahn and running back Tommy Spernal, Red Bank Catholic steamrolled Delbarton by a score of 45-20 for the state title in Non-Public, Group 3 football at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands Sunday night. Rich Chrampanis of Shore Sports Zone has the highlights. For the Caseys, it was the first state championship in 38 years.

RBC BEATS ST. JOE’S, HEADS TO STATE FINAL

A year after falling to St. Joe’s of Montvale in the playoffs, Red Bank Catholic’s football squad is headed to its first state title game since 1980. The Caseys pummeled the defending champion St. Joe’s, 44-14,  in a non-public Group 3 state semifinal on a cold Friday night at Count Basie Fields. RBC: TWO CASEYS ON SSZ GAME BALL BALLOT

Two Red Bank Catholic football players are in the running for a Week 10  Shore Sports Zone play-of-the-week game ball following the Casey’s first-round 62-7 playoff blowout of Bishop Eustace Friday. Linebacker Mike DeMonte and running back Tommy Spernal are among five Monmouth and Ocean county players on the ballot, with another eight players up for overall performance. RBC VAPORIZES BISHOP EUSTACE, 62-7

Coming off a stunning overtime loss a week earlier, Red Bank Catholic’s football squad put the pedal down and never let up as the Caseys demolished Bishop Eustace at home Friday night, 62-7.  Rich Chrampanis of Shore Sports Zone has the highlights.

The Caseys are at home next Friday night against the winner of St. Joe’s of Montvale v. Camden Catholic for the non-public Group 3 state semifinals.

RBC FALLS TO JACKSON IN OT UPSET

In a stunner that ended the Caseys’ 40-game Shore Conference winning streak, Red Bank Catholic lost to Jackson Memorial, 33-27, in OT at Jackson Friday night.
