You know who they are: the folks who shovel snow from their property into the street after plows have been through. Hey, maybe you’ve done it yourself.
Red Bank officials say it’s a costly pain in the neck, and plan to make it a violation enforced with “zero tolerance.”

This winter’s unprecedented snowfalls brought frustration to Middletown, but they also nudged the township to take another look at how it reacts to the weather.
Following a substandard response to the post-Christmas pounding, when streets went days without seeing a plow and cars got stranded all over town, leadership retooled its plan to clear both roadways and lines of communication.
Now they’re focusing on the sidewalks.

The too-white winter of 2011 is expected to lay a fresh blanket of snow up to 13 inches thick on the Red Bank region Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
It begins around 4p, the forecast says, with light accumulation until about 7p, when the snow dump begins in earnest.
The Red Bank police department has issued a request urging that vehicles not be left parked on-street overnight, to make it easier for plows to do their work.
In addition, there are borough streets for which an ordinance prohibits parking when the road is snow-covered, subjecting vehicles to tickets and towing.

While other towns continue trying to dig out from massive amounts of snow, it’s down to a cleanup effort in Rumson.
Public Works crews worked through the night Monday plowing through the borough’s seven-square-miles, and by Tuesday morning all streets were open, “which, I don’t think, a lot of the neighboring towns can say,” Mayor John Ekdahl said.
No they can’t.

It may not rival the pre-Christmas pounding, but if the weather forecast is correct insert wisecrack here Red Bank and the surrounding area will be spending some time digging out from a substantial snowfall again tonight and tomorrow.
In Red Bank yesterday, borough workers readied 11 snowplows, with additional loaders and backhoes geared up to 24 hours on the streets to clear an expected foot or so of snow, said public utilities Director Gary Watson.
The National Weather Service says seven to 13 inches will fall tonight and tomorrow.

The Red Bank Police Department is asking residents to move their cars to off-street parking overnight and tomorrow in anticipation of a snowstorm that could dump 14 or more inches of snow locally.
The request has been made in the form of a recommendation, because many borough streets are not included in a snow removal ordinance (text below) that prohibits parking of specific streets when the ground is snow-covered, said Acting Chief Steve McCarthy.
