Press release from Middletown Lions Club

On Saturday, June 14, the Middletown Township NJ Lions Club Charitable Foundation will host Run To Hear, a 5k run/walk which will support the club’s charitable hearing aid program.

The program provides free hearing aids to financially needy individuals in the local community who meet specific criteria. One of those who will benefit this year is a seven year old girl, Mary, whose family has reached out to our club for assistance. Mary has had a litany of medical problems. which range from a need for special glasses to hearing aids.

Open to runners and walkers of all ages, the event will be held rain or shine at Thompson Park in Lincroft. The course is a combination of grass, trails, and paved surfaces, and registration begins at 8 am, with the race beginning at 9 am.

To encourage high school and college-age students to participate, a random drawing for a $1,000 scholarship will be held. Any high school or college student who finishes will be automatically entered into the drawing for the Josephine A. Fernicola Scholarship, which will be presented by Anthony Fernicola of Point Pleasant, N.J.
