On the morning of April 28, an annual highlight of spring took place once again at Red Bank Regional High School,when the BUC Backer Foundation inducted six RBR graduates into its Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.

State Senator Jennifer Beck, Red Bank Mayor Pasquale Menna, Red Bank Councilman Michael Whelan, Shrewsbury Mayor Donald Burden, and Little Silver Councilman Daniel O’Hern were among the friends, family members and community neighbors who gathered in the school’s theatre to celebrate the contributions of this year’s honorees. The inductees were introduced by the RBR Buccaneer Newspaper students, who wrote bios on the alumni for a commemorative journal, and musical accompaniment was provided by the piano majors of RBR’s Visual and Performing Arts Academy. The festivities continued with a celebratory luncheon catered by the RBR culinary students.

LITTLE SILVER: RBR WRITERS WIN MEDALS

RBR national scholar winnersFour Creative Writing majors at Red Bank Regional’s Visual and Performing Arts Academy recently won coveted National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, distinguishing themselves as top student writers in the country.  Pictured with their teacher Dr. Gretna Wilkinson (center) are: Skylar Eber (silver medal), Mya Nunnally (silver); Jordan Fleming (gold), and Willow Martin (silver).

Creative Writing majors in the Visual and Performing Arts Academy (VPA) at Red Bank Regional High School once again earned a bounty of awards in the prestigious National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

Four RBR students won national awards, with Jordan Fleming of Red Bank winning a gold medal. Silver medals went to Skylar Eber (Bradley Beach), Willow Martin (Little Silver), and Mya Nunnally (Red Bank).

They are Desiree Marshall, Creative Writing and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID); Nicholette Glenn, Creative Writing; Michelle Hernandez, Creative Writing; Hannah Nishiura, Creative Writing; Stacy Osorio, Early Childhood Development and AVID; Maria Jimenez, Finance and Early Childhood Development; Jesus Rodriguez, Finance and Engineering; Luis Flores, Finance and Engineering; Cyntaia Birch, AVID; Victoria Sibrian, Early Childhood Development; Camarra Britain , Information Technology; Kady Aguilar, Information Technology and AVID; Gabriela Ortiz, Creative Writing; Rafael Martinez, Informational Technology and Engineering; Manuel Rosario, Vocal; Avian Goldwire, Drama; Tamia Waddy, Drama, Creative Writing and AVID; Chris Marshall, Interactive Media; Adeline Monfil, Information Technology and AVID; Ashley Talerico, AVID and Cristo Luna, AVID. In addition, Jose Campa received the Conte 1st Generation Scholarship to attend Christian Brothers Academy.
