A Red Bank man was indicted Friday for a spending spree financed by credit cards stolen from cars in Rumson and Fair Haven, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office said.
Carl W. Bergen, 53, of 59 William Street, broke into four vehicles in the two towns over the course of a year, beginning in May, 2014, according to the 16-count indictment.

An employee of outside contractor to St. James Church was indicted Tuesday on charges he embezzled stole more than $75,000 from the Red Bank institution over a six-year period.
An indictment handed down Monday by a Monmouth County grand jury alleges that Robert Ouimet, 49, of Manasquan, issued forged vouchers purporting to have been authorized by someone else, identified only by the initials “R.P.”
A Monmouth County grand jury declined to indict a Rumson man for his alleged involvement in a bench-clearing brawl at at baseball game at Red Bank Regional in April, the Asbury Park Press reported Saturday.
Actually, the Press says the grand jury “failed” to indict Patrick Maisto, 49, citing his attorney, Mitchell Ansell, as the source.

The pilot of a boat that smashed into another on the Navesink River almost two years ago has been indicted on vehicular homicide charge, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office announced Tuesday.
George Harrington, 41, of Browns Dock Road in Middletown, is alleged in a grand jury indictment handed up Monday to have been under the influence of liquor or drugs when a Boston Whaler he was piloting plowed into a vessel near buoy 20, between Middletown and Fair Haven, on July 23, 2011.
Christopher Plante, 50, of Keansburg, was killed in the crash.
