Commuting to Brookdale Community College in Lincroft via New Jersey Transit bus will no longer require a transfer in Red Bank under a new route alignment announced Tuesday. According to the report, the 833 and 835 routes will be merged into a new route numbered 838, “providing commuters from Freehold, Sea Bright, Rumson, Fair Haven and eastern Red Bank with a ‘one-seat’ ride to the Lincroft campus” by eliminating a transfer, according to the Asbury Park Press. After being held scoreless for two quarters, Red Bank Regional’s Sadiq Palmer finally notched his 1,000th career point Tuesday, finishing the night with 12 against rival Red Bank Catholic and joining an elite club of 15 RBR hoopsters to pass that milestone. But the Caseys got the homecourt win, 51-40, on strong play by junior Terrence Calandrillo, who scored 15. Shore Sports Zone was there with its video cameras to catch the action.
Red Bank Regional’s Ben Sprauer sank two free throws with 10 seconds to go to help RBR score a 48-45 win at Colts Neck Thursday. Playing at home, the R-FH Bulldogs topped the Matawan Huskies 17-0 in a game with a scoreless second half. Quarterback Michael O’Connor connected with sophomore receiver Elijah McAllister for a 16-yard touchdown pass: check it out at the start of the reel.
Fast-forward to 5:50 if you’re in a rush to see how Eddie Hahn and the 2014 state champion RBC Caseys played against St. Joe’s of Metuchen. A week after putting the Caseys in the capable hands of backup QB Colin Shaughnessy, Hahn returned from injury for his first appearance of the season by tossing three TDs, including a 49-yarder to Mike Wilen, who also ripped an 80-yard TD run against the Falcons.

Baseball powerhouse Don Bosco Prep came into the Non-Public “A” state championship game at Toms River East on Sunday game with a 29-0 record and a national ranking. But Christian Brothers Academy, led by pitcher Luca Dalatri, were unfazed. Dalatri threw a complete game, striking out 12, and added a solo homer in the fifth as the Colts stopped the Ironmen cold, 7-0.
