After a Red Bank Regional High School student tested positive for COVID-19 this week, the Little Silver school’s weight room was closed for additional cleaning, an official told players and parents Thursday.

For the first time in its storied 100-year history, the Red Bank Regional High School District is establishing an Athletic Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Committee will seek to induct individuals (including student athletes, and coaches) and teams who have made significant contributions to the school’s athletic program, with nominations accepted through May 1, 2017. The inaugural induction ceremony is scheduled to take place in October of 2017.
Alumni nominees need to have graduated over 10 years ago, and faculty nominees must be retired. Nominations, including posthumously nominated candidates, are welcome from former coaches, faculty, students and alumni, and can span the history of the old Red Bank High School and the present-day Red Bank Regional.

In a year during which Red Bank Regional High School has experienced several sport championships in football, girls’ cross country, girls’ swimming and girls’ tennis, it is only fitting that the 2015-2016 session concludes with the recognition of RBR’s Athletic Director Del Dal Pra as Jersey Sporting News’ pick for Athletic Director of the Year.
Del Dal Pra came to RBR eight years ago. During that time he has been able to establish feeder teams to the high school program with the Little Bucs Program. He succeeded, in partnership with parent groups, to finally put lights on the football stadium. This year, he helped fulfill a long-standing school-wide need and opened a state-of-the art fitness center, something which will benefit the health of RBR students for years to come.

Principal Risa Clay of Red Bank Regional High School has challenged both her school and her entire community to get fit with her. Jumpstarting that resolution, RBR will host a WOD — Workout of the Day — on Saturday, June 11. Evolv3 Training of Tinton Falls will orchestrate the workout, which will take place throughout the day on the RBR Lacrosse field.
The timed workouts will be staged in four timed-heat rounds of a workout circuit, which will consist of jump-roping, burpees, broad jumps, rowing, and tire flips, among other events. Entrants may compete individually or in teams, and all proceeds will benefit the RBR-based program The SOURCE, which offers such free services to the community as mental health counseling, academic support, preventative medical, dental and eye care, recreational and cultural events, scholarship opportunities and summer programming for incoming freshmen.

Sports TV and radio celebrity Chris Carlin recently visited Red Bank Regional High School to meet with students of the Academy of Sports Medicine and Management (ASM&M), and to discuss his amazing career as well as the ins and outs of both sports radio and TV production.
Showing videos of his TV programs to the classroom, Carlin observed that TV employs many more people than radio, where the announcer is more of a one-man show. He informed the students, “My job requires doing about five to six hours of homework a day; as I have to know every piece of minutia for this industry.”
During the presentation, Carlin gave the some sage advice on pursuing a career in these very competitive industries, stating, “I can’t stress this enough, unless you have some incredible talent, you need to work really hard to get where you want to go.”

Red Bank Regional High School athletic trainer Christina Emrich of Tinton Falls was recently honored with the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ)’s Distinguished Service Award, during their annual banquet on March 2 in West Windsor, NJ.
Making her evening extra special was the further recognition bestowed upon her student athletic trainer, Caitlin Brinkman of Little Silver. Ms. Brinkman received the organization’s Vito Recine High School Scholarship.
“It was an absolutely amazing feeling to be able to share the evening with Caitlin,” said Emrich. “I was so excited that she won the scholarship because it is a testament to all of her hard work and being able to bounce back after suffering a bad injury in her own sports play.”
