SUMMIT ENDS RFH GIRLS LACROSSE SEASON

Four days after winning their first ever group championship on Saturday, the girls’ lacrosse squad of Rumson-Fair Haven fell to Summit, 10-4, in the semifinals of the Tournament of Champions at Monmouth University Wednesday.

Kyra Weiner led the Bulldogs with two goals and Jacqueline Littleson and Elizabeth Scarrone accounted for the other RFH tallies, but the Hilltoppers scored six straight goals to break a 4-4 second half tie.  RFH finished an historic season with a 25-2 record.

RFH GIRLS ARE STATE LACROSSE CHAMPS

On a hot day on the turf at Kean University, the Rumson-Fair Haven girls lacrosse team never gave up the lead in a 14-11 win over Bernards to capture their first-ever Group 2 state championship finals Saturday.

RFH put together a balanced scoring attack. Kyra Weiner had 3 goals and 2 assists and Morgan Steinhacker also had a hat trick to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Bernards got as close as 5-4 in the first half, but RFH pulled away to take an 8-5 lead at the half and scored the first three goals of the second half.  Watch the highlights and post-game interviews here from Shore Sports Zone .

RFH GIRLS TAKE FOURTH STRAIGHT SCT TITLE

Morgan Steinhacker scored back-to-back goals to start the second half to give Rumson-Fair Have a five-goal lead over Shore Regional in the Shore Conference Tournament final at Monmouth University Monday, and the Bulldogs never looked back. Brittany Bruno and Kyra Weiner ended up with three goals apiece for RFH to lead the Lady Bulldogs to their fourth straight SCT title with the 13-5 win. Shore Sports Zone has all the highlights and post-game reaction from Monmouth University on video.

RFH is the top seed in South Jersey Group 2, and will host number 16-seed Paul VI in the first round on Wednesday.  

RFH SHREDS NET IN SCT QUARTERFINAL

ON THE GREEN: MAYORS HAVE FUR IN THIS ONE

The Battle of Ridge Road will pit maroon against purple in a high-stakes football game between Red Bank Regional and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional high schools this weekend.

But in the aftermath, the mayors of at least two towns will end up dressed dressed in electric green.

That’s because the top elected officials in Fair Haven, Rumson, Little Silver, Red Bank and Shrewsbury have a group wager on the outcome of the NJSIAA Central Group 3 championship game  between the undefeated RBR Buccaneers (11-0) and the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional Bulldogs (9-2): those from the sending towns of the losing team must dress up as the Grinch at a Holiday Express event, Little Silver Mayor Bob Neff tells redbankgreen.

LITTLE SILVER: RBR WARNS OF BOOZE & DRUGS

just_in1Heading into a championship football game early next month and hoping to “avert a tragedy,” Red Bank Regional officials are warning students about drug and alcohol use following several incidents of severe intoxication at home games this season.

In a “letter to parents” posted on Twitter by principal Risa Clay and on the school website late Tuesday afternoon, interim Superintendent Thomas Pagano wrote that Little Silver police, as well as school security personnel and administrators “have had to intervene and assist intoxicated students who had consumed alcohol either prior to or during football games on school grounds” this season.

One year after the field hockey team of Rumson-Fair Haven ended Shore Regional’s 15-year domination of the Shore Conference Tournament, the two teams faced off again at Holmdel Thursday night — with the same outcome. RFH BOYS STOPPED IN TOURNEY OF CHAMPS

Rumson-Fair Haven’s boys’ lacrosse team hit the wall at Bridgewater-Raritan Regional on Saturday, falling 7-0 to Summit in the state Tournament of Champions. Shore Sports Zone has the action on video. For the Bulldogs, the game marked the end of an historic season, as they became the first Shore Conference team to win a boys lacrosse state championship.

RFH WINS SOUTH JERSEY GROUP 1 LAX TITLE

The lacrosse squad of Rumson-Fair Haven missed out on a Shore Conference championship this year, but picked up another prize Saturday, topping New Providence, 12-8, for the South Jersey Group 1 sectional championship. Shore Sports Zone has the action and post-game commentary on video.

The Bulldogs, who started the season at 0-4, will now face Mountain Lakes on Wednesday at a neutral site for the Group 1 state championship.

RFH FAILS IN BID FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT TITLE

Defending Shore Conference lacrosse champs Rumson-Fair Haven came up emptyhanded in their quest for a fifth consecutive lacrosse title as they fell to Southern Regional, 16-6, in the title game at Monmouth University Tuesday. RFH UP FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT LACROSSE TITLE

Defending five-time Shore Conference lacrosse champs Rumson-Fair Haven heads to yet another title game following its 6-0 demolition of Freehold Township at Toms River Saturday. BORDENTOWN ENDS SEASON FOR RFH BOYS

The Bulldogs can console themselves with the Shore Conference title they won last month. Meanwhile, the Lady Bulldogs are still alive in the state tourney, as are both the boys’ and girls’s teams of Red Bank Catholic.

RFH, CBA TO VIE FOR SCT TITLE

With a 37-29 win over Neptune at Brookdale Community College Wednesday night, Rumson-Fair Haven Regional advanced to Shore Conference Tournament championship game against top-seeded Christian Brothers Academy Friday night at Monmouth U. Trailing 19-17 at the half, the Bulldogs put together a big third quarter to go up, 28-22, and iced the game at the free throw line. RFH GIRLS, ALREADY CHAMPS, AIM HIGHER

Fresh off capturing the Group 2 State Championship Saturday, Rumson-Fair Haven’s field hockey team notched a 6-0 win over Shore Regional in the play-in game of the Tournament of Champions at Rider University Tuesday. 

Madison Maguire banged in four goals, highlighted by a first-half hat trick, with Lily Croddick and Abigail Donohue also scoring. Shore Sports Zone has the highlights.

Rumson-Fair Haven’s  field hockey team plays for a state championship on Saturday, and a big part of the squad’s best season in school history is six-foot-one Catie Ebner. RFH BACK TO WINNING FORM WITH VOLKER

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional’s varsity football team pulled off a 28-21 win at Manasquan Saturday in a game that saw the return of powerhouse running back Charlie Volker after a couple of missed weeks due to injury.  The Shore Sports Zone highlight reel shows Volker, a Princeton commit, tearing it up for 267 yards and tight end  Kenny Farrare hauling in the game-winning TD pass with 16 seconds left to play – a contender for the play of the week.
