FOOTBALL: RBC, RBR AND RFH HIGHLIGHTS

On the final regular-season Friday night of the 2016 high school football campaign, Manasquan topped Red Bank Catholic at Count Basie Field in Red Bank, Raritan beat Red Bank Regional in Little Silver and Rumson-Fair Haven topped Carteret at home.

FOOTBALL: RBC BLANKS RBR, 35-0

In high school football action on a chilly Friday night, Red Bank Catholic welcomed back quarterback Steve Lubischer to the lineup as he threw three touchdown passes in the Caseys 35-0 home win against Red Bank Regional.

CBA TOPS RBC FOR DALATRI’S 34TH WIN

Christian Brothers Academy held off Red Bank Catholic, 5-3, to advance to the Shore Conference final in a great high school baseball game at Count Basie Field in Red Bank Wednesday night. 

CBA pitcher Luca Dalatri tied the all-time conference wins record with 34, but it didn’t come without a scare. Entering the game having given up just one run and two walks all season, the right-hander ceded two hits and three RBIs to Evan Madigan alone, and had to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh to pick up the complete game victory. Shore Sports Zone has all the highlights.

RBC MOVES TO SEMIS ON EXTRA-INNINGS WIN

Red Bank Catholic’s Mike Veit hit a deep ball to centerfield with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Caseys a walk-off win over Notre Dame and in the Non-Public  “A” South quarterfinals at Count Basie Fields Tuesday.  John Poccia pitched nine shutout innings for the win.  Watch highlights and post-game reaction from a great post-season game at Shore Sports Zone. RBC GIRLS HEAD TO STATE LACROSSE SEMIS

The Red Bank Catholic girls’ lacrosse squad broke open a 9-7 halftime lead with dominant play in the second half to secure a 20-10 home win against Freehold Township in the quarterfinals of the Shore Conference girls lacrosse tournament Wednesday. The Caseys next take on Shore Regional under the lights at Ocean Township Friday night at 7 p,m.,  following the other semifinal matchup of Rumson-Fair Haven and Manasquan at 5 p.m.

HOCKEY: RBC TOPS OCEAN 4-2 AT ARMORY

Skating on home ice at the Red Bank Armory, Red Bank Catholic topped Ocean Township 4-2  Wednesday. HOCKEY: RBC GOES THROUGH THE ROOF IN WIN

An unusual pass through the roof trusses sparked a three-goal surge in the final 1:22 of play as Red Bank Catholic topped Rumson-Fair Haven on the ice at the Red Bank Armory Wednesday. After Will Catalono put R-FH in the lead with six minutes to go, Kyle Amato tied things up, and then the Caseys’ Evan Hoey sent a pass that went through the roof supports and fell down to Alec Mintz, who delivered the game winner. It was senior night at the Red Bank Armory as Evan Hoey and Alec Mintz had one goal and two assists to propel Red Bank Catholic to a 4-3 win against Brick Township  Wednesday night. OUTDOOR CLASSIC HOCKEY: R-FH 7, RBC 5


Fans lined the boards and the upper terrace of the Navesink Country Club in Middletown Saturday night for the annual Winter Classic hockey game, pitting Red Bank Catholic against Rumson-Fair Haven. Connor Deverin and Robbie Garavante scored two goals apiece as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-2 lead after two periods and held on to win, 7-5. Evan Hoey became RBC’s all-time leading scorer in the loss, when his third goal of the night got him to 142 career points. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights. HOCKEY: RBC 5, FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP 1

Evan Hoey’s hat trick paced Red Bank Catholic to a home win at the Red Bank Armory Ice Complex Wednesday night. The Caseys raced to a 3-0 lead before Max Halvorsen got the Patriots on the board late in the first.  Hoey closed out the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the third period. COLTS NECK TOPS RED BANK CATHOLIC

Lloyd Daniels scored  28 points for Colts Neck as the Cougars beat Red Bank Catholic, 53-46, in Red Bank Monday night. Colts Neck has won seven straight games to improve to 7-1 on the season. Shore Sports Zone has the video highlights.

CBA ICES DON BOSCO FOR STATE CROWN

Baseball powerhouse Don Bosco Prep came into the Non-Public “A” state championship game at Toms River East on Sunday game with a 29-0 record and a national ranking. But Christian Brothers Academy, led by pitcher Luca Dalatri, were unfazed. Dalatri threw a complete game, striking out 12, and added a solo homer in the fifth as the Colts stopped the Ironmen cold, 7-0. CBA TOPS RBC FOR SCT BASEBALL CROWN

In a game rescheduled twice for rainouts, Joe Gargana and Kenny Campbell combined on a four-hit shutout as Lincroft’s Christian Brothers Academy blanked rival Red Bank Catholic, 4-0, to win its second straight Shore Conference baseball title at Toms River North Thursday evening. Shore Sports Zone has all the action and post-game reaction from the Colts.
