Election 2015 graphicAn unusually newsy Red Bank Board of Education election ended with the status quo Tuesday night as the incumbent slate swept to victory.

Led by Carrie Ludwikowski, who garnered 795 votes, the incumbent slate of Ann Roseman (712) and Frederick Stone (569) outpolled Richard Stout (536), Michael Clancy (493) and Irwin Katz, (464).

Election 2015 graphicIf there was a hot seat at the Red Bank Board of Education candidate’s night Thursday, Michael Clancy was in it.

The 33-year-old former offensive lineman at Rutgers was on the defensive at several points during the 90-minute event, pressed to explain his decision to stay in the race even though, according to one opponent, he wouldn’t be able to recite a truthful the oath of office should he be elected November 3.

RB GOP school board post 081015One of three candidates on a Republican-recruited slate for the Red Bank school board tells redbankgreen he wants nothing to do with party, whose officials he calls “a bunch of liars, gangsters and thieves.”

Irwin Katz said he was talked into running without any mention of the GOP’s involvement, which he said he resents in a race that he believes should be non-partisan. But now that he’s on the November 3 ballot, he’ll stand as an independent, as intended, he said Wednesday.

“I’m going forward, for hell or high water,” Katz said. “Now my Irish is up.”

Mike Clancy acknowledged to redbankgreen that he hasn’t lived in town for a year, as required by law — and said he didn’t know he had to.

SCIENCE DAY FUNDED FOR RED BANK PRIMARY

All in the interest of science, the Red Bank Borough Education Foundation presented the Red Bank Board of Education with a Rosemarie Kopka Mini-Grant for two thousand dollars, toward a Science Day to be held in June at the Red Bank Primary School.

Red Bank Councilman and RBBEF Secretary Ed Zipprich — joined by Ann Roseman, member of both the RBBEF board and the RB Board of Education — presented the check to borough Board of Ed president Ben Forest, as part of RBBEF’s mission to promote the STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) in the Red Bank Public Schools.
