RED BANK: 11 TREES PLANTED. HERE’S WHERE.

As part of an annual spring planting, Red Bank’s tree inventory grew by 11 new Black Tupelo and Serviceberry trees Tuesday, including ones planted on Elm Place, above, and Leighton Avenue, right.

Shade Tree Committee member Boris Kofman, who oversaw the installation by the New Jersey Tree Foundation, said the trees were paid for from the committee’s yearly $5,000 budget. Most were planted in front of homes whose owners had asked for them, he said.

Here’s where they went:

39 and 79 Bank Street

89 River Street

8 Tilton Avenue

19 Leighton Avenue

183 Hudson Avenue

69 57, 63 and 71 East Bergen Place

21 Elm Place

15 Buena Place

Because they’re in the borough-owned grassy strip between streets and sidewalks, the baby trees will get early watering and pruning by the borough. Homeowners are asked to ensure that “mulch volcanoes” not be created at their bases, Kofman said. (Photos by John T. Ward. Click to enlarge.)
