RED BANK: BRAINSTORMING A NEW PARK PLAN
With planning underway to transform the former Red Bank landfill at West Sunset Avenue into an 8.6-acre park, the borough Parks & Rec Committee has scheduled a “concept design kickoff” to solicit public input on the project.
The event is slated for Thursday, April 6, 6:30 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church on Shrewsbury Avenue. In addition, the committee has an online survey here.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is covering the costs of remediation at the site, which served as the town dump and garbage-burning facility from around 1930 to 1984 and runs alongside the Swimming River. Coverage of a 2014 presentation on the cleanup can be found here, with additional coverage here. (Photo by John T. Ward. Click to enlarge)
