LITTLE SILVER: CENTER UP FOR MAKEOVER

Eighteen months after a change in its anchor tenant, the Acme shopping center in Little Silver may be getting a facelift.

Fair Haven Mayor Ben Lucarelli, a principal in a company that owns the center, has filed plans with the borough to re-face the stores and realign the traffic flow and parking plan, with the addition of 13 parking spaces. New lighting and landscaping is also planned. Variances are needed for pre-existing conditions, Lucarelli said, and a planning board hearing is scheduled for April 6.

For decades, the center’s anchor store was an A&P supermarket. Acme took over the location as part of its purchase of 72 A&P stores in a bankruptcy wind-down in October, 2015. (Rendering by Kaplan, Gaunt & DeSantis. Click to enlarge)
