FAIR HAVEN: VACANT LOT ON AUCTION BLOCK

fh-b39-l6-fisk-st-122016Ready to build your dream house? The Borough of Fair Haven has a piece of vacant land it plans to auction off.

Located on Fisk Street (block 39, lot 6), the one-third-acre property measures 46 feet by 317 feet, according to Monmouth County property records. It’s in the R-5 zone, which permits single-family residences.

Anyone know the back story on this lot? Mayor Ben Lucarelli surmised that the borough’s ownership is a vestige of the days before the site it abuts along its rear border became a sports field, and might have been envisioned as a parking lot.

In December, the borough council decided that “we don’t have any real use for it, and the housing market’s hot,” Lucarelli said.

The council has set a minimum bid of $330,000 for the lot. Bids may be submitted in advance, but a live auction will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 27 at borough hall, Lucarelli said. Here are the bid specifications. (Photo by John T. Ward. Click to enlarge)
