FAIR HAVEN: TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO ARREST
Police arrested a Fair Haven man on marijuana and aggravated assault charges after a traffic stop on Harding Road Sunday night, Chief Joseph McGovern said in a statement.
According to McGovern, Jonmichael Puryear, 23, fled on foot after he was pulled over by Patrolman Brooks Robinson at 10:42 p.m.
Robinson and Officer Michael Volker chased him down and placed him under arrest.
Puryear was charged with possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, distribution in a school zone, aggravated assault, eluding arrest and failure to observe a traffic signal.
Bail was set at $55,000 and Puryear was transferred to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute, the statement said. A check of the MCCI database early Tuesday indicated that Puryear had been released.
