RED BANK: CANDIDATES TO FACE OFF AGAIN

[UPDATE: GOP Chairman Mike Clancy says Hanlon and O’Bosky Colwell did NOT agree to participate, citing prior engagements.]
 With the race entering its final week, the five candidates for Red Bank council in next week’s election have agreed to square off a second time.

Pilgrim Baptist Church and Citizens for a Diverse and Open Society are organizing a “community conversation” centered on the council race for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, at 172 Shrewsbury Avenue, according to an announcement Monday by Pilgrim Baptist’s pastor, Reverend Terrence Porter.

The announcement did not say how the forum might differ from the West Side Community Group’s annual candidate’s night, held October 19. Porter was not immediately available to comment Monday.

All five candidates on the ballot for two three-year terms have agreed to participate, Porter said. They are (with links to their recent answers to a redbankgreen Q&A):

• Incumbent Cindy Burnham, a former Republican now running as an independent

• Incumbent Kathy Horgan a Democrat

•  Brian Hanlon, a Republican

• Kellie O’Bosky-Colwell, a Republican

• Erik Yngstrom, a Democrat
