LINCROFT: OUTAGE CLOSES BROOKDALE

just_in1A power outage prompted officials to close Brookdale Community College Wednesday, the school announced on social media.

The outage, reported on social media at about 8:30. first prompted school officials to delay the start of classes to 11 a.m., and then to 1 p.m.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the school’s Facebook and Twitter feeds announced the closure of the Lincroft campus for the rest of the day, affecting all scheduled activities.

JCP&L spokesman Ron Morano told redbankgreen that power was restored within 45 minutes of the 8:11 a.m. outage. “My understanding is that the college is working to fix an issue on their equipment,” he said via email.

Morano said the cause was a squirrel making contact with equipment at Phalanx Road, and that the outage affected 437 customers.

Brookdale facilities in Freehold, Hazlet, Long Branch, Neptune and Wall remain open, according to the college website.
