RED BANK: COMEDY FOR A CAUSE

Mike GaffneyFor a breed of performers who hone their craft via roast-ready insults, scatological science, interactive combat with audience hecklers, and a filter-free delivery that’d give even the Donald pause, stand-up comedians can be real sweethearts sometimes — and no more so than when they’re joining forces for a worthy cause, as with this Saturday’s Laugh Out Loud Comedy Show at Two River Theater in Red Bank.

Back for its eighth annual outing, the popular event transforms the mainstage of the Bridge Avenue arts center into a high-class Chuckle Hut for a raucous one-night stand.

Proceeds will be donated to 180 Turning Lives Around, the Monmouth County-based nonprofit dedicated  to ending domestic and sexual violence.

Scheduled for 8 p.m. and organized by ringmaster Michael DeStefano, the event pools the talents of four hard-working comics from the NY/NJ circuit: Jimmy Failla (recently seen on Jim Gaffigan’s acclaimed new TV series); Mike Gaffney (Season 8 of “Last Comic Standing”); Rodney Laney (truTV’s “Smoking Gun Presents”); and Paul Virzi.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and tickets ($40) are still available here from the TRTC box office, or by calling (732) 345-1400.
