RED BANK: PRIVATE CIGAR CLUB PLANNED

22-24 w front 060116 1HOT-TOPIC_02Red Bank’s zoning board will take up a proposal Thursday night for the creation of a private cigar bar and restaurant at 22-24 West Front Street, in a space formerly leased as a gym.

Dubbed Le Malt Club, the business is owned by a partnership that also owns a similarly named club in Woodbridge. But unlike the Middlesex County version, which boasts of “750 brown spirits” priced at up to $735 per glassful, this one doesn’t have a liquor license and members will have to bring their own hooch, according to a description on file with the borough. A small retail cigar shop accessible to the public is also included, and no increase in an existing parking deficit is expected, the plan states.

The board hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at borough hall, 90 Monmouth Street. Here’s the agenda: RBZB 060216 (Photo by John T. Ward. Click to enlarge)
