[UPDATE: Borough planning and zoning director Glenn Carter tells us the plan for the former firehouse at 40 White Street has been amended to a proposed retail use, from an earlier request for a restaurant. The original version of this story has been changed to reflect that.]

On the menu at Monday’s semimonthly planning board session:
• Yen Chung of Parsippany and Ke Ha Du of Harrison hope to establish a sushi restaurant called Red Lantern at 132 Broad Street, but first need variances to convert the retail storefront to primary food use and for parking, with 25 spaces required and none provided, according to the borough planning office.
Long vacant, the space was last rented to Monmouth Mattress.
• Pazzo Restaurant, located on the ground floor of the Red Bank Corporate Plaza, at 141 West Front Street, is seeking permission to expand. The owner, 416 LLC, wants to add 400 square feet to the west side of the restaurant. Site plan approval and variances for setbacks and parking are sought.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at borough hall, 90 Monmouth Street. Here’s the official agenda.
On deck at Thursday’s zoning board:
• Michael Morgan Sr. and sons, owners of the former Liberty Hose firehouse at 40 White Street, go before the board seeking an interpretation of local ordinances as to whether their plan to create a ground-floor restaurant retail space and two second-floor apartments there belongs before the zoning board or the planning board. If the answer is the zoning board, the conversion application is expected to be heard immediately.
Here’s the agenda.
