In this (long overdue) edition of redbankgreen‘s Retail Churn:

• A new ophthalmology practice and eyewear store has opened on Broad Street.

• So have a body-waxing business and a women’s clothing store.

We’ve also got news on a couple of relocations within town, a couple of pending openings, and a closing — in other words, all the essential ingredients of a Churn cocktail.

• Del Negro & Senft Eye Associates, a 23-year-old Neptune-based ophthalmology practice, opened at 152 Broad Street in January, taking storefont space last used by S.O.M.E. Architects, which relocated to the Noglows Building at 65 Monmouth Street.

Located next door to the Woman’s Club of Red Bank, the 3,000-square-foot space doubles as a fashion eyewear retailer and professional ophthalmology practice, where patients get routine eye examinations and can buy glasses and contacts, said partner Ralph Del Negro. Eye surgeries, including Lasik procedures, take place at a partnership facility in Brick Township, he said.

The practice includes two well-known Red Bank practitioners who folded their practices into the new one: Fred Blades and Paul Jurgens. They joined with Del Negro and doctors Carl Senft and Marina Glatman.

• The women’s wear boutique called the bee has opened at 68 Broad Street, ending one of the downtown’s longest vacancies in recent memory. See Churn’s article about this business from last October.

• Old World Shaving Parlor is moving from 4B West Front Street to 12 West Front Street, according to a sign in the window. The building won approval a year ago for a roof deck for the Downtown bar, which is next door.

• The furniture shop Red Ginger Home, owned by Rob Amend & Michael Yavorsky, relocated to 66 Broad Street.

• The sign is up for the future Castello Premium Boutique, a children’s clothing store that’s taking over Red Ginger’s former home at 48 Broad Street,  but we haven’t been able to find out anything about this business yet.

• Waxing the City, a franchise that offers hair-removal services for men and women, has opened at 80 Broad Street.

• The former home of the Sicilia Café, at 128 Broad Street, is undergoing transformation into something called the Global Eatery. There’s no information online about this, but recent promotional mailings say it will offer Korean, Greek, Italian and American fare.

The Sicilia Café folded in December, just six months after changing hands.

• Yo Mon frozen yogurt closed its store in the City Centre strip mall fronting on Water Street, signaling the demise of a dessert concept that attracted three Red Bank competitors in two years, as previously reported by redbankgreen. All are now gone.
