LITTLE SILVER: A GOOD TURN FOR GREAT CAUSE

TurningPoint_lobster_BenedictThe Turning Point’s lobster benedict is merely one Great Food way in which to support the Great Cause of the Kortney Rose Foundation — as the restaurants’ eleven locations team up to fundraise for the locally based nonprofit on the weekend of February 27 and 28.

Press release from Culinary Communications

From its very first location in downtown Little Silver, to an expanding network of daytime restaurants throughout New Jersey, Turning Point has made itself at home wherever it’s put down roots — and for the seventh consecutive year, Turning Point’s founders are partnering with a grass-roots nonprofit in their home community, for a fundraising initiative entitled “Great Food for a Great Cause.”

Between the hours of 8 am to 3 pm on Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28, all 11 Turning Point locations will invite their dining guests to make a donation to Kortney Rose Foundation, the organization (founded, in memory of their late daughter, by Kristen and Rich Gillette of Oceanport) dedicated to raising funds for pediatric brain tumor research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Guests who donate a minimum of $25 to KRF on either of those two days will receive in return a Turning Point gift card, good for two entrées to be used any time in the future.

Over the past six years, the Turning Point weekend event has raised a total of $150,000 for the Foundation, with more than $51,000 of that total generated by last year’s campaign alone. KRF was founded by the Gillettes following the passing of their daughter Kortney, a nine year old student at Wolf Hill Elementary School who died from a brain tumor in 2006.Their foundation reached a milestone in 2015 when, after just nine years, it surpassed $1 million in donations to CHOP.

“Turning Point and the Ruoffs have been a staple in our efforts to raise money for kids with brain tumors – the number one cancer cause of death in children 20 and under,” said Kristen Gillette. “We are overwhelmed with gratitude from the growing community support for our mission to find better treatments and cures for the more than 3,500 children diagnosed annually with brain tumors.”

KRF volunteers will be at all 11 Turning Point locations to answer any questions about the Foundation and its mission. In addition to Little Silver, Turning Point restaurants can be found in Brick, Cherry Hill, Hoboken, Holmdel, Long Branch, Manalapan, Marlton, Princeton, Sea Girt, and Westfield.
