SEA BRIGHT, RUMSON: SEEKING TOYS FOR TOTS
With an eye toward Christmas, volunteers in Sea Bright and Rumson are planning “toys for tots” drives in coming weeks.
Picking up an effort previously spearheaded by the borough police, the Sea Bright volunteer fire and first aid squads have scheduled a toy drive for Wednesday, December 2, Fire Chief Walter Olenhaus of Sea Bright Fire & Rescue tells redbankgreen.
The drive is to be held at Tommy’s Tap + Tavern on Ocean Avenue starting at 6 p.m.and continuing through the evening. A Christmas tree lighting, an appearance by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, and free hot cocoa will mark the event.
Toys do not need to be wrapped. They’ll be donated to the United States Marine Corps for distribution in time for the holiday, Olenhaus said.
Then, on Friday and Saturday, December 11 and 12, the Rumson Public Works Department, aided by Miss Teen New Jersey USA 2016 Gina Mellish, will hold its annual toy drive.
The collection takes place at the public works garage behind borough hall, and is slated to run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
