Community members of all ages are invited to a special presentation by Greg Olsen, when the entrepreneur, scientist and civilian space traveler visits Brookdale Community College on Thursday, December 3.

The  7 pm presentation, hosted by Brookdale’s Physics and Astronomy Club and STAR Astronomy in Red Bank, is free and open to all. Olsen, a research scientist and tech industry innovator who became the third private citizen to orbit the earth in 2005, will speak at the Student Life Center building on the Lincroft campus.

In his presentation to local students and community members, Olsen will discuss his months of preparation for the mission, his launch in a Russian Soyuz rocket and his ten days aboard the International Space Station (ISS), where he orbited the earth more than 150 times and logged nearly four million miles of weightless travel.

Olsen will also discuss his professional career, in which he was awarded 12 patents and made more than $600 million in the fiber optics and sensors industries. Today Olsen serves as an “entrepreneur in residence” at Princeton University, and regular speaks to students about the value and benefits of pursuing a career in science or engineering.
