The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional Dance Troupe claimed First Place — and helped raise over $2,000 for the American Cancer Society — during the 2015 RFH Talent Show.

The stars shone brightly on the evening of April 9 — and a variety of dancers, singers, musicians, and comedians delighted a packed auditorium — during the 2015  Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Talent Show.

The 23 acts included solo musical and dance performances, group musical and dance performances, and a group routine based on a Monty Python comedy sketch. The student-musicians covered popular artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alt J, and the Grateful Dead, and presented their own compositions as well.

Proceeds from the show, organized by the Student Government Association (SGA) of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School and presented on the evening of April 9, benefitted the American Cancer Society.

“I think this was the best show yet,” said RFH World Languages Teacher and SGA Advisor Yannell Maglione. “We were also able to raise $2,000 for a wonderful foundation.”

Señor Herman and his 7th period Spanish IV class performed the Enrique Iglesias song “Hero” as part of the RFH Talent Show on April 9.

The first-place winner of the 2015 RFH Talent Show was the RFH Dance Troupe. Members Saige Bess, Deanna Heller, Nija McQueen, Olivia Mitterando, Katie Pierson, Jane Russo, Sara Safarian, Stefani Sciametta, Abbey Weis, Emily Weis, and Jessica Weltz performed an energetic synchronized dance mix to claim the top prize.

The second-place finish belonged to RFH senior Nija McQueen for her solo dance to the song “Unsustainable” by Muse. RFH junior Liam Packer won third prize for his pop medley played on the flute.

RFH faculty members got into the act, with World Languages Teachers Seth Herman and Tom Larkin and Art Teacher Zach Wilson performing “Cielito Lindo,” a popular Mexican song. “Señor” Herman and his seventh period Spanish IV Class performed the song “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias.

Judges for the event were RFH senior class Co-President Kimmy Drastal, Music Teacher Bill Grillo, and Zach Wilson. RFH Social Studies Teacher Darren Beatty and RFH senior and SGA President Nora Ryan were emcees.
