RUMSON: GUNFIRE IN HOME INVESTIGATED
By JOHN T. WARD
Rumson police were questioning two people Sunday night following an incident in which a gun was fired multiple times inside the basement of a home here.
No one was injured in the incident, which came less than 24 hours after a domestic dispute at the same address, on Auldwood Lane, Chief Scott Paterson told redbankgreen.
Paterson declined to identify two people who were being questioned at police headquarters shortly before 9 p.m. Neither was under arrest, he said.
A man who had been involved in a dispute at the house Saturday night had returned and been let into the house sometime Sunday, Paterson said.
The shots were fired at about 6:30 p.m. and reported by a maid, who fled the house, he said.
Paterson said there may have been as many as 10 or shots fired from a .38 caliber pistol into a basement wall, but it was not yet clear who fired them.
He said he expected to have further information Monday morning.
