Having fun, while learning hands-on skills, valuable lessons and fitness fundamentals is the order of the day, as Red Bank’s Community YMCA inaugurates a new slate of fall classes for kids between the ages of 3 and 13.

It’s a schedule that kicks off right now with an all new activity aimed at young Super Heroes in Action ages 3 to 6. While it’s not necessary to dress in capes, cowls and costumes, budding heroes can take the opportunity to “soar, jump and run in this fun, action-packed class based on character development, team work and more.” Classes are held twice weekly; Tuesdays at 9:30 am and Thursdays at 3:30 pm.

A Fit Tweens Boot Camp offers ages 9 to 13 a chance to have fun while doing cardio, strength and core workouts, with sessions on Thursday evenings at 5 :30 pm.

Ages 4 to 6 can learn the basics of a favorite pastime in a non-competitive setting, as T Ball 1 and 2 sessions begin this weekend. In T-Ball 1 (Saturdays at 12:30 pm), children will learn the rules of the game as well as the basics of catching, throwing and hitting using the tee. T-Ball 2 (Saturdays at 1:45 pm) allows players to “continue to develop their fielding, throwing and hitting skills in a fun encouraging environment.”

A Youth Basketball League instructional program for ages 5 to 12 emphasizes team play (and puts the fun in fundamentals), with Saturday sessions for ages 5 and 6 at 8:30 am; ages 7 and 8 at 9:30 am, and ages 9 to 12 at 10:30 am.

Beginning next Monday, September 8 at 3:30 pm, a Food and Fun program for ages 3 to 6 offers young foodies a chance to learn the alphabet and some healthy recipes through hands-on creative experiences.
