Eamon Kitson, senior Co-Captain and forward for the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Boys Soccer Team, was recently named “Player of the Year” by the Asbury Park Press, and by the Jersey Shore Sporting Network.
Jersey Shore Sporting Network also named first-year Head Coach Will Gould “All-Division Coach of the Year.”
And that was just the icing on the cake for this year’s team, which ended the school’s best season ever with a record of 19-3-1 and won the 2013 “Central A” Divisional Championship.
The RFH soccer players made school history by advancing to the finals of the Shore Conference and NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II Tournaments, each for the first time. The team’s seeding for the tournaments, at numbers three and two respectively, was also the highest in school history.
The team also claimed the greatest number of “goals for” in the 2013 Shore Conference lineup, with 60 goals for and just 21 goals against for a goal differential of +39.
Eamon Kitson was also named to the “First Team All-Shore” by the Asbury Park Press, as were Co-Captain and midfield player Pete Martin and senior defense and midfield player Matt Dell. Senior defenseman Ryan Strang was named to the “Second Team All Shore.”
Eamon Kitson, Pete Martin, and senior goalie Chris Tierney were named to the “First Team All Division – Central A” and “First Team All County – Shore Conference” by the Star-Ledger.
Also honored by the Star Ledger were Chris Tierney and Eamon Kitson for “First Team All-State,” and Pete Martin for “Second Team All-State.”
