An adult dolphin died beneath a residential dock on Harbor Drive in Rumson around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Scott Longfield, a Fair Haven resident and volunteer with the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine, said the animal was a common dolphin that had been reported stranded in the Shrewsbury River Monday, a week after a pregnant common dolphin died nearby.
