It’ll be an environmental double feature in Red Bank at the end of the month.

The borough’s environmental commission and its subcommittee, the Green Team, will run back-to-back talks on environmental issues on April 28.

The first, at 6p, is called “Transforming Your Yard Into a Garden,” with Little Silver resident Wendy Weiner digging into the how-tos of vegetable and fruit gardening.

Weiner, who runs a business called The Front Yard Farmer, will go over how the addition of flower boxes, vines and shrubs can turn the lawn into a harvestable field, or, if nothing else, a conversation piece.

The second presentation is at 7p by the American Littoral Society‘s Bill Shadel. He’ll be talking about the Red Bank library‘s deteriorating bulkhead and how the society plans to replace it with a “living shoreline.”

The proposal, to tear down the wood bulkhead and replace it with a graded slope full of natural plant life, still needs approval by the borough, but all the details of the plan will be ready for the public to hear.
