IN oRBit: DINE ON, FRUGAL FOODIES
Today’s edition of Red Bank oRBit has the goods on Dine Downtown, the Octoberlong promotion in which much of the Red Bank restaurant community bands together to offer a set of discounted Prix Fixe dinner options, every Tuesday and Wednesday evening during this month of the harvest moon.
We confess it’s an offering that we thought we might not be seeing in 2009, as the entire industry struggled to get out from under the fallout from last year’s deflated souffle. But while the downtown dinescape has seen its inevitable shakeups, we’ve seen some encouraging signs as well, not the least of which was the positive response to last month’s Taste of Red Bank event.
The folks from the Basie are tossing some ingredients into the pot, too, with a recommendation to pair some of their midweek musical events such as tomorrow night’s concert by Michael Bolton (above) with a Dine Downtown meal befitting a recession-busting Romeo. No word, though, on how the acidic humor of Lewis Black (October 21) is going to help the digestion.
It’s all there, with a handy-dandy guide to all the participating bistros, boites, banquet rooms and beaneries only in Red Bank oRBit!
