Today’s edition of Red Bank oRBit is a  smorgasbord for all of you culture vultures who like to take in a bit of live theater every now and then — with no less than four new shows opening in and around Red Bank this coming weekend, and a couple of others that are offering up their final performances at the same time.

We’ll take you to the Count Basie Theatre, where the borough’s own Phoenix Productions stages its first-ever production of the Mel Brooks howler The Producers (right) and its infamous show-within-a-show, Springtime for Hitler. Meanwhile, down at the scrappy storefront stage of the Eatontown Playhouse, local impresarios Debby and Mike Schwartz are rolling out a newly made-over version of their original musical, a little item called Diamonds at 22 West.

Over at the Duncan Smith Theatre in Holmdel, comedy specialist Gary Shaffer directs and co-stars in a promising production of the funny play The Foreigner — and down at Monmouth University‘s famously haunted Woods Theatre, the Shadow Lawn Stage series concludes with the fine Irish playwright Conor McPherson‘s drama of ghosts and psychic baggage, Shining City.

Stick with us, kid, and it’ll be aisle seats and hors d’oeuvres all the way — only when you roll with that most discerning arbiter of taste, Red Bank oRBit!
