REPORTS: GOLDMAN WINS CUSTODY CASE

Goldmans

David Goldman
of Tinton Falls has won court approval to regain custody of his only child, who was taken to Brazil by the boy's mother nearly five years ago, according to published reports.

"They've been ordered to deliver Sean to the U.S. Consulate at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon," Goldman tells columnist Bill Handleman of the Asbury Park Press today. (The undated photo at left shows Goldman, his now-deceased ex-wife, Bruna, and Sean, who is now 9 years old.)

Patricia Apy, the Red Bank attorney who is representing Goldman, tells CNN that she learned on Monday of the Brazilian federal court decision ordering that Sean be turned over turned the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday.

Apy
also said David Goldman was traveling to Brazil and was expected to arrive
in Rio early today.

More from the CNN report:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
referred to the case Monday, telling reporters, "I also wanted just to
take this opportunity to recognize the decision by the Brazilian
federal court today ordering a young American boy, Sean Goldman, to be
reunited with his father, David. It's taken a long time for this day to
come, but we will work with the Goldman family and the Brazilian
government, with the goal of ensuring this young boy's return."

Apy said she had not received a copy of the Brazilian court decision but expected to get one on Tuesday.
