A NEW LOOK ON MONMOUTH STREET
Jamian LaViola's solution to indoor-outdoor dining on Monmouth Street: garage doors.
A long-awaited transformation of a Monmouth Street watering hole moved into its final stages yesterday when Jamian's Food & Drink (formerly Echo), blew out its old facade.
In it's place are new roll-up garage doors in brushed metal frames. Once the project is completed, owner Jamian LaViola plans to throw the doors open whenever the weather is nice enough.
The idea is to create sidewalk cafe seating without using the sidewalk, which LaViola says is too narrow to let him meet Red Bank's cafe ordinance.
"If you can't bring the restaurant outdoors, you bring the outdoors in," he tells redbankgreen.
LaViola snaps a photo of the work-in-progress.
The facade was designed by Red Bank mainstays S.O.M.E. Architects of Drs. James Parker Boulevard.
LaViola says the doors are nicely sealed, but he's mulling the use of removable storm doors during the winter.
