IN oRBit: SOLDIER STORIES, PARLOR GAMES

Noworbiting_iconDarrellWillis Theater Week of Sorts soldiers on in Red Bank oRBit as we take a look today at a
new production of the hard-hitting drama A Soldier’s Play going up this
weekend at the Performing Arts Center at Brookdale Community College, directed by Darrell Lawrence Willis Sr. (right).

We’ll
tell you why the Sunday matinee might be worth the trip out to the Lincroft
campus, and we’ll relate our favorite remark about the late
August Wilson.

From there we take the jitney down to Asbury Park, where the monthly
Collide-A-Scope slate of art happenings commences as planned tonight, with
Saturday also bringing the opening of the latest and loopiest display of
Rare Pleasures at the ever-awesome Parlor Gallery.

Then it’s a “top o’the muffin” to longtime Jack’s Music Shoppe manager Tim Cronin,
back fronting Red Bank-rooted garage sensations The Ribeye Brothers in Long
Branch. We’ll hep you to the legendary No-Coat Guy’s current
people-pleasing project, a little endeavor about which we can only say —
UGH!

All this plus a plethora of onstage attractions, Local Music Day at the
record shop, and the wonder and mystery that is The Orb, Red Bank oRBit.
