Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says she is working to resolve the prolonged international custody case involving Sean Goldman, the 8-year-old boy whose father, David Goldman lives in Tinton Falls.

Appearing this morning on NBC’s Today show, Clinton says she is pushing Brazil’s government to return Sean to his father, according to a report by the Associated Press.

From the wire story:

Speaking to NBC’s “Today” show from Jerusalem on Wednesday, Clinton said David Goldman has followed the rules “under every known law of international adoption” and should be granted custody.

Goldman’s wife took the boy with her to Brazil in 2004 and never returned to the United States. She divorced him, remarried and died last year after giving birth.

Goldman met with his son last month for the first time since 2004.

Clinton’s comments come two weeks before Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is scheduled to meet President Barack Obama in Washington.

David Goldman, whose fight has attracted international attention, is scheduled to appear on Larry King Live tonight at 9p on CNN.
