PROSECUTOR MUM ON SHOOTING DEATHS
Investigators on the scene on Locust Avenue, which remained closed between Leighton Avenue and Leighton Place at midmorning.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office hasn’t released any new information about this morning’s apparent double homicide in Red Bank except to say that no arrests have been made.
As is customary in felony cases, Red Bank officials are referring media inquiries about the matter to the prosecutor’s office.
In keeping with that agency’s policy, Assistant Prosecutor Peter Warshaw has disclosed limited information about the case, including the fact that the two male victims were victims of gunfire reported at about 1:35a.
Warshaw declined to say what if any information authorities might have about a suspect or suspects.
The identities of the victims, their ages and the exact location of the incident are also being withheld for now, he says.
Asked if he could confirm that the shooting occurred in the middle of Locust Avenue, Warshaw said, “we’re not characterizing where it happened.”
Meantime, borough police and elected officials are following the prosecutor’s lead.
Councilman Art Murphy, who is the governing body’s liaison to the borough police department, said he expects more information might be available after 4p.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Det. Eliot Ramos of the Red Bank PD at 732.530.2719 or Det. Jose Cruz of the prosecutor’s office at 1.800.533.2443.
