A day in the sunshine preceded an evening of awards at the I Build, U-Build We Build a Better Community Family Day at Red Bank’s Count Basie Park on Saturday.

Honorees included Larry Hamm, a human rights activist in Newark; Karl Parker, a guidance counselor at the Red Bank Primary School; Juanita Lewis, vice president of the Red Bank Board of Education; Doug Lang, meter reader in the Red Bank water department; and James ‘Pete’ Reeves, a retired Red Bank school administrator and coach.

The event was sponsored by the borough Parks & Rec department and supported by the Red Bank chapter of the Five Percent Nation.
