Red Bank police are sorting through the details of an assault case that sent two people to the hospital early this morning.

Under arrest and now being treated at Riverview Medical Center is 29-year-old Johnny Campos of Spring Street, says Capt. Steve McCarthy, who heads the detective bureau.

Campos is alleged to have assaulted a 28-year-old Bridge Avenue woman at his apartment. The woman sustained non-life-threatening knife wounds in the incident, which was reported to police at 5:28a, McCarthy says.

Campos is being treated for self-inflicted wounds.

Further information about the matter is expected to be available later today.
