POLICE: STABBING WAS RESULT OF DISPUTE
Red Bank Police are looking for assailants whose names they’re not yet disclosing in connection with a stabbing at a West Side party early New Year’s day.
The victim, whose identity also wasn’t disclosed, is in stable condition in the trauma unit of Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, said Capt. Steve McCarthy, head of the detective bureau.
Police responded to a report of a stabbing at 12:08a at an address on Drs. James Parker Boulevard between Bridge and Shrewsbury Avenue, where they found the victim outside, McCarthy said. He had been stabbed in the torso.
The victim lived was staying temporarily at the address, where a party had been underway, he said.
An investigation revealed that the victim had been involved in an altercation with several people with whom he was familiar when the stabbing occurred, McCarthy said.
“This was not a random act, where somebody walking down the street was stabbed by a stranger,” McCarthy said. “It really looks like a dispute that turned physical.”
